Meet María.
How it started…
María was born in Mexicali, Mexico, a border city with California. When she was 6, she was grocery shopping with her mom and saw her pick a bottle of salsa with a weird-looking label from the counter. Seeing how it was next to a beautiful-labeled one, she asked why she hadn’t picked the “prettier” one…
“It’s not nearly as good. The label design doesn’t always do justice to the quality of things.”
She was confused how something beautiful couldn’t be good. And how something, well, not so beautiful, could be amazing.
Since that moment, she felt the need to help create beautiful design that reflected the quality and heart of meaningful products and services.
María studied her BA in Visual Communication Design
In Mexico City. She has studied with renowned mastermind design teachers and incredible designers from all over the world at schools like Centro. in Mexico City , Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Academy of Art in San Francisco, Vancouver Institute of Media Arts and taken workshops to dive deeper into the intricate and wonderful world of Branding.
Her formation is mainly under the school and principles of Basel / Swiss Design, (minimal, clean, impeccable + functional design to say the least…)
She moved to California after graduating to deepen her studies in Branding Strategy, (alongside with Social Emotional Art & Music Therapy and Yoga.)
She started to work in Hollywood for a creative agency as a Freelancer, in which she was hired by different studios all around Los Angeles for projects in collaboration with Apple, Disney, Target and Nordstrom, among other world-wide + international brands.
After separating her design work from her spiritual / holistic well-being practice for years, she started transitioning her clients to 100% working with people who want branding assets & design crafted from a deeper level.
She now crafts brands with deeper causes that just individual success, (which is awesome and we love it and celebrate it!), yet somehow all the projects she now works on are with changemakers, who choose to believe in their gifts, are deeply inspired to positively impacting lives, and are committed to making the world a better place.
Maria Tierra Studio is the result of the bridging of worlds, professional & holistic, to craft soulful and successful design for those who seek integrity, authenticity and wholeness in a professional way on all levels of their business.
